Running Home .1

Developing a consistent system for organizing the every day places in a home that are in constant motion without restricting that motion is next to impossible. In the kitchen, groceries constantly change size, shape and quantity. Kids rooms or a play room are remarkably busy and evolve with each toy that is added or removed, or each time the toys aren't put back in a way that isn't just so. A laundry room or space is always getting full of dirty items and then baskets or bins of clean laundry that need to be taken care of.

However, in each busy room there are things that remain for long periods of time in a state of suspended animation. Keeping those things organized as well as keeping a system in place for the busy things can make all the difference in that rooms flow.
Case in point: Classroom
Our classroom is meant to be a dedicated room where we go to have discussions, class time to work, and art time together. We haven't 'been in session' for a little while due to some conflicts so there hasn't been any flow here and as you can see currently, it's a disaster.

After we found out that Bugs wouldn't be accepted by the public school that she already attends we did some refining work on the provisions we already had just for Coliander. These pictures are the result of half-hearted room organization once we gathered more items to accommodate a larger range of subjects to be taught. We'd bring the stuff home and put it into the classroom, walk away for a bit, come back in a few hours and do a little bit of sorting.
Not effective or efficient.
The table is supposed to be used for class work and crafting. At lest one of those things are happening here. Oops.
Classroom sub-texts are still in order by subject at least.
Mounds of unmanaged... stuff. Trash that still needs to be taken care of too.

This book shelf is supposed to be specific text books that pertain to our main subjects.
Puzzles! *sob*
This is a brand new Media Center that I fashioned out of our old crib, after I had already made it into a desk prior to receiving the table and chairs we now have to use.
It really worked out well for accommodating our needs with one child for a better side-by-side teaching experience.
The only place where you can see that I have actually spent time putting things in their place each time I added something is in our closet. It is where much of the art supplies and teacher's stuff are located. These are things that the kids aren't allowed to do anything with without getting permission first.
Organize me!
Over the next few days I'll be going through each space in here to be geared up to start summer school in a week. *EEK*

Running Home .1 Classroom Closet

Keeping the odds and ends of any space organized takes time, patience and practice. Doing any of that with children under toe is a chore. Coliander and Bugs are, thankfully, very well behaved and do not get into things that they should not. They know their boundaries and the consequences if they break the rules. Plus a little added common sense by putting the things I never want to find out they messed with up high helps my sanity and everyones days are a bit less stressed.

You may note that only part of this closet is organized in this picture too. Organization takes part in steps! It's always alright to take breaks.

The Introduction

I will be using series sets to blog about more specific topics to avoid blending things together and to make it easier for everyone to find what they want, especially me. A set will have a Blog Name, series number and perhaps an alphabetical value as well.. but we'll see. It will look something like this:
Yadda-Yadda .1

Blablabla!

The Series!
Show Me What'cha Workin' Wit!
I would really like YOUR input if you want more detail about the things I post. If you wish to see different spaces that I have organized in my home life and I'm not posting about it, if I post a picture that you would like more information about, comment about it, send me a message, or use the 'Reactions' to tell me what's what! I'll gladly take you down the path of how that thing or area became organized, what exactly happened in the process, what everything is, where I got it and why I'm not using something else.

Running Home
The Running Home Blogs are going to be dedicated to sharing how I organize our homeschool life. Homeschool is a frightening task to take up at any point if you're in the 'already-in-public-school' journey like we were. We did it in the middle of October. We'll be beginning to teach both of our children full-time in June, after Bugs' public school year is over.

Feel Free
The Feel Free Blogs are going to be dedicated to sharing how as a family we remain happy always, as humans are not naturally pleasant and happy people. I struggle with depression, sometimes to a debilitating point. Coliander's emotional turmoil often spills over into week long roller coasters with treacherous highs and gruesome lows. Mr. Ed and Bugs float along side us enduring the push and pull with the ease of experience whilst the two of us churn in our rip-tides.

Baggers and Mash
I have Celiac Disease. I don't like having Celiac Disease... I'm no longer in denial but I don't always like to deal with it. I am still working on making my home GF or gluten free. I rearrange my cupboards and refrigerator often to accommodate always changing menus, tastes and time frames. I make some really strange-to-other-people foods. I won't be posting a large amount here unless it becomes a popular tid-bit but most of the time I'll just be posting pictures and ingredients.

Well then. Hello and welcome to the show!

I partner in running a house hold of 4. We have a Dad, a Mom and two children, a son and a daughter. For safety's sake I'll introduce them as Mr. Ed, Coliander (7) and Bugs (4). We'll get back to our story later on.

Originally when I learned about blogging I told myself that I was never going to blog or report about things in some super specific way on any super specific topic. It just seemed lame and tiresome to me. A shear waste of time.

Over the years I have been searching for a great many things to help make my home life easier and more organized. I followed some bloggers, got a feel for their personalties, and enjoyed reading even some of the most mundane commentary.  Recently, I thought again about my decision to never blog. Obviously, since here I sit typing away, my decision has been changed.

Short, Simple and To The Point is my way to share the organization of  not only my thoughts but also, my life inside and out.

I have learned that when you are organizing pretty much anything, the process is daunting, often dirty, and rarely short, simple or to the point.

Mr. Ed works two jobs. I do the typical 50's wifey thing; generally make sure everyone  doesn't stink,  starve or miss scheduled appointments.  I'm also an aspiring craft business owner. Coliander no longer attends public school and is homeschooled. While Bugs is an A-Typical Example Peer in an Early Childhood Education Classroom for children with ASD.  (Autism Spectrum Disorders NOT Atrial Septal Defect) She's not on the spectrum but her brother is.

We are the working class poor and there is nothing wrong with that. We are happy with the simple things we can do for entertainment which are the most healthy in the long run anyway. We take joy in paying our bills every month because for a long while we couldn't do that. We are happy to just be together, loving each other and being happy.
